A heartbreaking statistic: more people died in ICE detention in 2025 than in the past four years combined.

🚨New details on “Operation PARRIS” are emerging. Groups on the ground estimate that at least 100 people with full refugee status have now been arrested and sent to Texas to be detained for interrogation about their status and possible removal proceedings.

The administration is once again using the language of security to justify blanket exclusions that punish entire populations, rather than utilizing individualized, evidence-based screening.

Joined @cfcolemanjr.bsky.social to discuss immigration restrictions, many of which were underway before the tragic shooting in DC. What’s new and deeply troubling is the attempt to retroactively tie them to one heinous crime and cast suspicion on entire nationalities – including Afghan allies.

What message are we sending when Afghan allies, Venezuelan dissidents and Rohingya genocide survivors are pushed aside while others leap the line?

My new @msnbc.com op-ed on the WH’s record-low refugee cap — an attempt to redefine who’s worthy of protection.

I work with refugees. I've seen the human cost of Trump's policy changes.
The U.S. refugee program was never just about who we let in; it mirrors our character as a country. We can welcome more than 7,500 people. So why won't we?

Afghan women’s rights activists.

Venezuelan dissidents.

Congolese families.

Persecuted religious minorities.

These are just a few of the vulnerable populations who will be left in harm’s way by the record-low refugee cap. My thanks to CNN for this important conversation. 👇

Today and every day, we celebrate the immigrants that have shaped America’s past and continue to shape our future.

It was true in 1987 when former President Reagan designated Oct 28th as #NationalImmigrantsDay, and it is true now: Immigrants are (still) welcome here. 🗽

I worked in the East Wing under First Lady Michelle Obama. When I saw excavators tearing down those hallowed halls, it felt like a physical blow. Like so many Americans, it pains me to think that we’re replacing a workshop for public service with a gilded gold luxury ballroom.

As alarmed as people may be, they aren't alarmed enough. Trump just escalated this crisis from a fight between the federal government and a state, to a situation where one state is deploying armed forces to impose its will on another state. www.thebulwark.com/p/emergency-...

I joined NPR/WAMU’s 1A to share why these protections matter, and why dismantling them harms us all.

Children aren’t pawns.

Flying Guatemalan kids out early on a holiday weekend-only to pull them off planes last-minute and leave them in limbo-isn’t just chaotic. It’s cruel.

These are vulnerable children who deserve care, not political theater.
