Can you guess what NPR/WAMU show @globalrefuge.bsky.social’s @krishvignarajah.bsky.social will
be joining this morning? 📻

Tune in at the top of the 11am ET hour for a timely discussion on immigration.

Here is President Trump’s answer to @pabloreports.bsky.social’s question about our nation’s debt to Afghan wartime allies.

Very much worth noting that this administration has terminated Temporary Protected Status for Afghanistan — putting up to ~12,000 at risk of detention and deportation.

NEW GALLUP POLL: the pendulum has swung **drastically** on immigration since last year.

🟢 just 30% want immigration decreased (55% last year)

🟢 79% of Americans think immigration is GOOD for the country (record high)

🟢 Path to citizenship (78%) beats mass deportation (38%)

NEW from Bloomberg: Global Refuge weigh in on the Trump admin's efforts to curtail healthcare access for immigrants and refugees.

“We’re witnessing a multi-front campaign that is quietly but systematically cutting off access to care for immigrants and refugees,” said @krishvignarajah.bsky.social.

"Your value lies in your willingness to build bridges where others would build walls."

New relevance in @krishvignarajah.bsky.social's commencement address to Goucher College, which came just days before the Trump administration paused all visa interviews for international students.

This is how you use a platform to stand up for immigrants.

Thunderous applause for @krishvignarajah.bsky.social at the Goucher College commencement ceremony as she calls out the White House for slamming the door shut on desperate refugee families.

DHS says it’s safe to deport Afghans back to the Taliban because the regime is promoting tourism and had 7,000 visitors in 2023.

@krishvignarajah.bsky.social absolutely eviscerates this absurd claim in @forbes.com, particularly when it comes to women and girls.

President Trump claims a GENOCIDE is taking place against White Afrikaners in South Africa.

Meanwhile, his administration has instituted a sweeping suspension of refugee admissions from other countries, as I pointed out to the @nytimes.com last week.
May 12, 2025 at 3:40 PM
I spoke to @nytimes.com about the near-total suspension of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program and the importance of equity within humanitarian protection policy.

Even immigrants with legal status are feeling the heat, a new @kff.org poll shows:

• 60% of lawfully present immigrants fear detention/deportation
• 41% report stress-related health problems
• 1 in 5 are skipping work, events, or medical care

¡Wepa! Puerto Rico is stunning 🤩
May 6, 2025 at 9:19 PM
I spoke to @forbes.com about the suspension of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program, the lack of transparency around the administration's 90-day report, and the impact on thousands of refugee families whose hopes of safety have been indefinitely deferred.

NEW in @nytimes.com: Trump admin terminates Temporary Protected Status for Afghanistan — making thousands of Afghans in the US vulnerable to deportation in the coming weeks.

@krishvignarajah.bsky.social rightly points to the implications for Afghan women and girls.

NEW in WaPo: A sudden, unexplained halt in federal funding has forced refugee nonprofits like @globalrefuge.bsky.social to go weeks without routine reimbursements -- impacting vulnerable families and spurring widespread layoffs.

How are Baltimore's humanitarian nonprofits navigating the loss of federal support frozen by the new administration?

@jeanmarbella.bsky.social explores this critical question, featuring insight from @krishvignarajah.bsky.social of @globalrefuge.bsky.social 👇

So I hear we’re having a dialogue on H-1B visas and the wider contributions immigrants make to our workforce and economy?

There’s a TED Talk for that, and @krishvignarajah.bsky.social is a voice you should be following 👇

Room at the Inn?

Just ahead of Christmas, my boss @krishvignarajah.bsky.social joined MSNBC to talk about the political & economic impact of mass deportation — as well as the humanitarian stakes for millions of mixed-status families unsure if this is the last holiday season they’ll spend together.

WOW! This would be a seismic shift in immigration enforcement policy.

Can you imagine the scenes of raids at after-school pick-up, hospital rooms, and Sunday school services? Schools, hospitals, and churches should be community cornerstones — not ICE hunting grounds.

NEW: on Meet The Press this morning, Donald Trump confirms he’s willing to deport US citizen children of undocumented residents.

“So the only way you don’t break up the family is you keep them together and you have to send them all back.”

Unconscionable and un-American.

Almost fell for Newt Gingrich’s forthcoming “pro-immigration” documentary.

Luckily, @annevclark.bsky.social found out which newcomers get Newt’s stamp of approval: no one from Latin America or Africa, and no one who immigrated after George W. Bush left office. 👇

Texas is offering the incoming Trump administration a plot of 1,400+ acres to stage its mass deportation operations.

Perhaps of note, the letter doesn’t use the term “immigrants” or “aliens” even once — it exclusively refers to “violent criminals.”

I came to Bluesky to chew bubblegum and help journalists tell impactful immigration stories that foster greater understanding of complex issues and our common humanity…
