We are deeply disappointed by the vote rejecting vital Planning and Infrastructure Bill amendments.

Nature cannot afford compromises—we’ll keep fighting.

Email your MP. Amendment 130 would make sure the new planning systems works for, not against nature.demand they keep amendment 130 in the Bill
It's now or never. This is the last chance to protect nature in the Planning and Infrastructure Bill. Email your MP to keep amendment 130 in the Bill.

✨ Surveying peatlands often reveals something magical!

These surveys help us understand their condition and guide vital restoration work.

What’s the most magical thing you’ve spotted on a bog walk?

It’s the season to blend our single (-celled) bodies into the communal slime while we reproduce. If that’s not weird enough, let’s look like Dog Sick too! 🤣 Didymium spongiosum (Dog Sick Slime Mould) doing its amazing stuff @northcavewet.bsky.social. Elsewhere: Bittern @yorkswildlife.bsky.social

I was up in Wensleydale today, so called in at a @yorkswildlife.bsky.social nature reserve I've not been to before, Leyburn Old Glebe.

It's best known for its flowers, but actually had a few waxcaps today. Enough to encourage someone to go back next year (I'm not close enough).

Enjoyable day despite the foggy start in the @yorkbirding.bsky.social trip to Staveley and Ripon City Wetlands, two super @yorkswildlife.bsky.social reserves. Four Whooper Swans dropped in for a rest at Staveley, with Otter, two Great Egrets, heard Bearded Tits and 100k Starlings into roost at RCW.
