Our vision is for a Yorkshire that is abundant in wildlife, with more people having a genuine and meaningful connection with nature.
✨ Surveying peatlands often reveals something magical!

These surveys help us understand their condition and guide vital restoration work.

What’s the most magical thing you’ve spotted on a bog walk?

We were delighted to welcome @katiewhitemp.bsky.social MP for Leeds North West & UK’s Minister for Climate to our newest nature reserve Park Gill yesterday.

It was a pleasure to share the vision behind this special site and discuss the importance of restoring Yorkshire’s rare temperate rainforests.

Spiders. 🕷️ One of our most divisive and maligned groups of wildlife. At worst they’re hated, at best they’re often overlooked.

This, along with the difficulty of identifying many, has also led to them being under-recorded. We want to change perceptions of spiders this #Halloween!

🔔 Nature is at risk, but your voice can help.

The Planning Bill is nearly law.

An amendment passed by the Lords yesterday offers vital protection - but it needs MP support to stay in.

📢 Tell your MP: please back Amendment 130.

We are so sorry to hear the passing of Jane Goodall and join the global conservation community in mourning her loss, and in celebrating an astonishing legacy that will carry on.

Her curiosity and compassion will continue to inspire us all to care more deeply for the living world.

Using helicopters is crucial to #peatlandrestoration - they take stone sediment traps to slow the flow of water & capture eroding peat to help retain it on the bog.

We will also be transporting coir logs - used to break up large patches of bare peat & protect exposed peat from wind & water erosion.

Heading to #Ingleborough or #Whernside next week? We're planning to transport material with helicopters onto the two peaks, starting 29/9/25 weather dependent.

👷Please follow instructions from contractors on the ground who will be manning footpaths to ensure your safety.

Yorkshire’s woodlands are feeling the heat.

After the driest spring in 90 years, trees are shedding limbs and wildlife is struggling.

Just 8% of Yorkshire is wooded.🌳

Let’s root for our wild woods before it’s too late:

The painted lady travels up to 9,000 miles from sub-Saharan Africa to the UK each year — one of the longest insect migrations known. 🌍

Fuelled by nectar-rich flowers like thistles, they play a vital role in pollination across continents. 🌸
