70+ Chapters across the US fighting for abundant housing that's inclusive, sustainable, and affordable.
Pinned
Everyone has a:

- Right to housing: a safe home that meets their needs

- Right to opportunity: high-quality jobs, services, schools, and other public resources close to home

- Right to affordability: a home that costs no more than 25% of your income

That’s what we fight for.
The idea that housing that is affordable to low-income folks is somehow "bad" is a deeply troubling one. We shouldn't be made to feel like there is anything wrong with living in apartments!

Apartments are good, actually!

If you love ADUs, this legislation would be VERY meaningful.

One small line would update the loan limit for renovation loans and explicitly say the money could be used for ADUs. Just one of the huge, zero-cost changes included in this bipartisan bill!
🚨 TAKE ACTION NOW 🚨

The bipartisan ROAD to Housing Act, passed by the Senate in October is major bipartisan action on housing! It's a housing bill that shifts many federal incentives for state and local housing policy.

We want to get this bill passed URGENTLY. Here's how you can help 🧵

I missed this, but YIMBYs had a really good election day across the country.

In the long road to fix our country, you cannot ignore local politics. It's the base on which everything else is built.
This was a huge Election Day for YIMBYs!

Our members have endorsed and supported candidates in races across the country at ALL levels of government, and we're seeing the impact of that support now 🔥

Happy Monday, folks! I’m currently at San Mateo City Hall, where the council is hearing an item about the Hillsdale Mall redevelopment into a mixed use space with 1.4K new homes, office, and retail.

The house is packed, and there’s an overflow room. As usual: people are mad. 🧵

An influx of new apartment units is forcing landlords across the country to offer concessions like months of free rent and free parking.

In some cases, they're even lowering prices too 😏

Renters Have the Upper Hand. And They Are Probably Keeping It.
Apartment rents nationally are advancing at their slowest pace in years because the glut of new units is taking longer than expected to absorb.

"While demand appears to be slowing, supply remains the key force suppressing rent growth. The supply-heavy regions of the U.S. saw rent cuts in both 3rd quarter and the past year."

And THAT is why we are fighting for abundant housing, folks!
