WNC's chapter of YIMBY Action. Advocating for housing abundance, & diverse, affordable, and walkable communities in Asheville.
[W]hile poverty levels fell in Western North Carolina’s urban areas . . . , they rose in unincorporated Buncombe, Haywood, and Henderson counties, where low-income workers often moved after being forced out of cities by rising rents.

Can ADUs be a bigger part of Asheville’s housing solutions? Yes! Alongside “missing middle” reforms, ADUs have been shown to increase housing supply and decrease displacement pressure. Asheville’s own studies recommend enabling more ADUs!

“I hope to remind our city leaders that families come in different shapes and sizes. . . . We need to diversify our housing to match the diversity of our citizens here in the city.”

“Selfishly, I want more neighbors. . . . This is exactly what addressing Missing Middle means, allowing for more options within neighborhoods like mine so that we're free to build the housing we need.”

There's room for ALL kinds of people to belong in Asheville. They just need homes.

If we don't let neighborhoods develop, change, and grow over time, the only people that benefit are the people that already got theirs.

TAKE ACTION so our neighborhoods can grow!
