Yellowhammer Fund won its lawsuit against Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall. The court made it clear: Alabama’s laws do not extend beyond state lines to penalize people for getting or assisting with legal healthcare elsewhere.
Everybody wish a Happy Birthday to our amazing Development Manager, Heidi! Heidi has been with the Fund for over five years, and has been a fundamental member of our staff through many transitions.

🧵On Nov. 18th, South Carolina will hear S.B. 323. If passed, S.B. 323 will create a total abortion ban. This ban attacks our free speech, bodily autonomy, privacy, and ability to support our communities in making their own healthcare decisions.

Everybody take a moment to wish our amazing Family Justice Organizer, Shakeyla Sumlin, a Happy Birthday! Shakeyla joined our staff in 2022, but committed to serving our community far before that. We admire Shakeyla's endless dedication to ensuring everybody has the resources they need to thrive.

YHF is heading to the National Women's Studies Association's 45th annual conference.

There, we will facilitate a panel on how the Bus Tour functioned both as a tool of data collection and a mobile site of refusal—centering narrative, memory, and resistance rooted in Black feminist traditions.

We’re deeply grateful to the National Institute for Reproductive Health (NIRH) for hosting a strategic planning retreat for our Alabama Birth Equity Initiative. This Black women-led, community-driven collaboration is working to improve maternal health outcomes in Alabama.

Philanthropy must evolve beyond extraction and control to relationships of accountability, abundance, and trust. Because care isn’t an inconvenience. It’s the strategy.

Our neighbors aren't draining federal funding, and SNAP isn't a burden on our budgets. Children who don't eat can't perform well in school. People who don't eat face negative health outcomes. Don't let anyone tell you it isn't violence to withhold food from the exploited class of America.

What would you do if you found out you only had a couple of days to figure out how you're going to feed your family next month? How would your life be impacted if the sounds of your stomach growling was the white noise that lulled you off to sleep?

As leaders we must always meet the moment. The Yellowhammer Fund is responding to the SNAP crisis by rapidly moving $50,000 to the people. We recognize that now is the time for action not political, academic, or philosophical think tanks.

Use the link to donate.

YHF is committed to our community. One of the ways we do this is by resourcing in ways that support families. While we’re grateful for support from orgs like Baby2Baby, the need is BIG, and we still have to purchase large quantities ourselves. Let's come together for families.
