I used to do work but now I don’t. Have doctorate but forgotten everything about it. I like long novels mainly detective and science fiction. I like cinema, increasingly non-English & watching TV. I’m learning Portuguese because I live in Portugal.

James Cameron shouts loudly about how much he hates AI but creates a film that is no better than a film made by AI. I'd like to see him make a 90 minute $20M film to see if he can actually write and tell a story with characters we can relate to.

@talkscaredpod.bsky.social I was interested to hear the comment from Joe Lansdale about the fine line between crime & horror. Have you read any of Stuart Mcbride's Detective Logan McRae series (16 books)? The 4th book Flesh House is definitely horror with crime. If you've not, strongly recommended.

I have discovered that #Amazon has probably the worst customer service going. All I wanted to do was change my phone number. Asking to change a phone number seemed to be totally unheard of at Amazon. The guy I spoke to had to seek the advice of his supervisor and a 'specialist'. They both failed..

I just finished Cold Granite by Stuart McBride. I immediately bought his second novel Dying Light. The first book is superb, a great police procedural with excellent characters. I'm thinking I might push on through and read all 16 books in a row...
