But we have a country to save from the far right, public services to rebuild and a planet to save. We need more help:

The obscenity that is the British housing market

We need a massive programme of council house building for rent, and with no right to buy

Bought homes should only be sold for people to live in, not gobbled up by the rich to rent out at ludicrous prices

A waiting list of thousands, and just five new homes for social rent: this city shows the depth of Britain’s housing crisis | John Harris
Liverpool was once praised for its tolerance, but housing shortages are driving fearful, unsettling behaviours – and people are blaming outsiders, says Guardian columnist John Harris

7/ I have no idea about Snyder’s tax arrangements, but he strikes me as an excellent object lesson in why the UK needs a wealth tax.

And if this should prompt this major polluter to sell his luxury London properties & move elsewhere, would anyone actually miss him?

Southend Council is still using the controversial weedkiller glyphosate despite a pledge to phase it out.

Read which places it’s still used: ⬇️

If we the voting system were to be changed from FPTP, maybe it would be appropriate to consider mandatory voting.

Here’s my latest article for @eastangliabylines.co.uk - a piece on Conrad Noel of Thaxted, a super interesting character.
A socialist vicar once flew the Red Flag in an Essex parish church. Today, as patriotic displays sweep Essex and protest laws tighten, he'd probably be arrested.

Yasmin van der Poel asks: Would Conrad Noël be a prophet or a criminal today?
The Red Vicar revisited: flags, faith, and the fight for England’s soul
The flags waving in our news bulletins are not a new phenomenon: Thaxted in Essex has seen it all before
