In 2017, Myanmar's military unleashed a campaign of violence against the #Rohingya the UN called "a textbook example of ethnic cleansing." But the persecution of the Rohingya did not start then.

What a day it is for #Rohingya community! The arrest warrant issued by the Int'l Criminal Court for the architect of Rohingya genocide & other mass atrocities, Min Aung Hlaing, means the world to the victims community like ours. Our contribution to justice in #Myanmar should never be forgotten.

#Rohingya women have long persisted in spaces that constantly exclude us. The feminist movement is just catching up now. Our women have worked tirelessly for decades against the backdrop of genocide & SGBV while holding up an entire community. It might be invisible, but don't assume we don't exist

This will be hell for us.

Displacement isn't just being pushed to leave from one place to another. It's the dire conditions with which Rohingya are subjected because no place on earth or no entity is willing to accept that a genocide is created and propelled by us.

🚨15 women political prisoners recently transferred to Tharyarwaddy Prison had been under #Myanmar junta's solitary confinement in Insein & Obo prisons for nearly two years. Arbitrarily arrested women disproportionately face junta's targeted attacks, incl. #SGBV.
