Manchester City Women are once again in transition. New coach, new hope, same questions. Can they finally break a cycle of familiar challenges? In this piece I share my take on why change is so hard within City’s fixed football identity.
Manchester City Women: Can change finally break the cycle?
Years of potential, trophies just out of reach, and managerial shuffles—Manchester City Women continue to face familiar challenges.

I can't see Sam Coffey not starting for Manchester City after today. Even though we didn't win the match you could see that she brought new energy to our game and gave us a lift when Jeglertz brought her into the game. And that's what coffee is supposed to do.
Sam Coffey vs @arsenalfc.bsky.social :

▪️45 minutes
▪️32 touches
▪️96% accurate passes (25/26)
▪️100% successful dribbles
▪️4 defensive contributions
▪️5 passes into the final third
▪️3/4 ground duels won
▪️2 tackles
▪️2 clearances
▪️5 recoveries

Jamaican defender Konya Plummer registered a brace for Fenerbahçe in their 4-1 derby win against Beşiktaş today. The Reggae Girl struck in the 51st minute to give Fenerbahçe a 2-0 lead. Four minutes later in the 55th minute she increased the margin to 3-0 with a second strike.

Arsenal Women played better than my City side today. No arguing with that. But it doesn't mean the referee didn't impact the game. The foul against Hemp should have resulted in a red card but a foul wasn't even given. The refs in England in both the men's and women's game are some of the worst.

Going from 2-0 down to a 5-2 win. Loved seeing it. Well done Melbourne City Women! Great mentality. Great game.

From college soccer to the 2023 Women's World Cup, and now Kameron Simmonds has signed her first professional contract with the Utah Royals.

I wrote a feature in 2024 on how she was bridging the gap to the professional level. Now she has arrived in the NWSL.

Alisha Lehmann: “When I was 20, 21, 22, everyone was judging me. Everyone was like ‘you’re not a football player, you only post on social media.’”

Quite enjoyed this interview of Lehmann conducted by Rachel Daly and Millie Bright on The Rest Is Football: Daly Brightness podcast.

I was rooting for Corinthians, but congrats to Arsenal. Well fought by both teams. I think this tournament did a lot of good for the women’s game, bringing together and exposing football cultures from around the world at the club level. The horizons of women’s football were broadened a little today.

In addition to Don Lemon, independent journalist Georgia Fort has also been arrested.
Minnesota based Independent Journalist GEORGIA FORT has been arrested for filming a protest of the church pastor that works as an ICE manager. SPREAD THE WORD! Georgia has been doing outstanding reporting from ground zero!

This is how the United States treats its journalists now. It will be interesting to see how the media community responds. How much backbone and unity can it demonstrate?
This just in: "Don Lemon was taken into custody by federal agents last night in Los Angeles, where he was covering the Grammy awards," Lemon's attorney Abbe Lowell says.

"Oh Minneapolis, I hear your voice, crying through the bloody mist. We'll remember the names of those who died on the streets of Minneapolis."
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

moral of the story is 40 is the new 25
Possession isn't everything. Gotham dominated the second half, containing Corinthians in their own half for the vast majority of the time. But the South Americans scored against the run of play for a 1-0 semifinal win in the inaugural FIFA Women's Champions Cup.

Love how Corinthians look so...Brazilian...when they play. Nothing spectacular or flashy but just seem to have that Brazilian ease. I was curious to see them play outside of South America where they dominate women's football. So far they seem pretty evenly matched with Gotham. 0-0 at the half.

Deneisha Blackwood’s presence for Toluca yesterday showcased the attacking threat we need from her for the Reggae Girlz. She capped it with a 90th minute assist for Mariel Román. Two and a half years of Hubert Busby Jr. coaching the Reggae Girlz and we’re still not getting the best out of our talent

Jamaica really has not got a handle on its major (and growing) solid waste problem, compounded by millions of tonnes of trash from Hurricane Melissa. A recent birding expedition uncovered illegal dumping of all kinds of waste, besides lovely birds. Way more resources are urgently needed.
Jamaica is an island of trash: what are we doing about it?
When our birding group (BirdLife Jamaica) goes on a trip, we generally go "off the beaten track." With our beautiful Hope Botanical Gardens in Kingston as perhaps an exception, birders have their favourite spots - but they are not usually obvious public places. So, our intrepid group recently took a trip to Hellshire. It's a unique landscape, with a kind of wild beauty - small round cacti nestling in the pitted, bleached white limestone rocks, climbing cacti, cacti pointing their fingers at the sky.
