I decided to do a special episode this time. I go over my journey of how I got to here, starting with Christmas Day 1998. Thanks, Mom.

I'm so excited to get this done. I've spent two years working towards this, and now I can move on with the playtest and get a ton more material to work with. I'm happy I've created so much and am looking forward to creating so much more.
The last video of the major changes of the first draft of the playtest is up! The Bow amazon got a do-over, splitting it into two to expand the number of subclasses (since it doesn't show up in any other Diablo game) and smoothing out how each one feels.

Yuuuup. Almost done. Balance is crap, but I'll still be holding it out for the future in a folder so D2 purists can have their version. I won't be revisiting it as much, but I will when I get feedback and the changes will be catalogued.

I'm so excited. 2 years of YouTube, 2.5+ of the actual work.
Last changelog of the alpha draft is up, and with the Google Docs version put up on time instead of 10-48 hours later. Next week you can expect the last video of the alpha draft (Let's Fix: Bow Amazon), then on to Diablo 3 and 4.

Over two years of work almost completed, with (pretty much) only minor tweaks to numbers left. This is a MASSIVE accomplishment for me.
The last official ability has been added to the first draft of the adaptation! I'm so proud of this. The Singer barbarian has been remade!

Yup. Lots of changes. I'm coming down from RuneScape Leagues, so I should be getting my head back into the game for the future. I hope.

Another elegant argument from @josephmschultz.bsky.social. I'll add that to the pile with @bloodartist.bsky.social's video.

I realized while editing this that some of the changes I made for "balance reasons" were probably unnecessary.

When talking about this issue, I default to a single statement: intent ends where mechanics begin. Yes, hybrid cards were INTENDED to be played in monocolor decks, but so was Fire//Ice and Neurok Stealth Suit and Elbrus, the Binding Blade and Valentin, Dean of the Vein. 2/X

@bloodartist.bsky.social at it again with one of, if not the, most succinct and clear demonstrations of why the proposed hybrid mana changes are a net negative.

It felt SO good to make these changes, like running your hand over a finely sanded board. With the channel's 2 year anniversary coming up in early December, I want to get these changes done so I can hit the goal of having a finished alpha draft at that time.
Changelog's up. A metric TON of changes, with more on the way. I only got most of the way through the barbarian.

The last abilities to create are the Singer barbarian's, so this is huge for me. If I push hard, I might even be able to have the alpha draft done by my channel's two year anniversary.
Four classes get their last ability to fill out their levels, meaning all main class levels are accounted for! It's Filling in the Gaps Part 2!

Shortest one in a while. Still needed. Telekinesis got some love, and the assassin got touched on.

In the vein of Forgetful Fish, I'd love to see more decks built around interesting creatures or spells. For example, I want to build Treacherous Pit-Dweller. What are come cards that might be interesting with this? My first thought was Endless Whispers.

I never want to stay up until 2 doing editing again. I have work at 6...

But I'm also very glad I got it out. It really is the first part of the last stretch of creation.
Come check out the SIX new abilities across five classes! We're getting close to finishing up the creation process and heading into revisions and rebalancing.

It is painful that a New Zealander, a country America never thinks about, has put out the best commentary on authoritarianism I've ever seen. We've had decades of content showing the effects of authoritarianism, and yet we still plunged headfirst into it.

This one is interesting. I'm testing out a new version of a subclass to get feedback on how its mechanics work. They'll be available side-by-side for comparison.
Changelog's up. Four changes for the assassin, one of which is just the announcement of an alternate version of an existing subclass for testing.

Bit of a spoiler, but my comments at the end are important to the future of how this subclass is designed. There's a lot to unpack here, and I'm not sure how well it's designed, so go watch it and give me some feedback.
Finishing Move rounds out the Martial Arts assassin, but there's more in store than just a bunch of kicks! The subclass also snags two new abilities and an assassin take on one pulled from D&D. Go check it out!

@mtgds.bsky.social Have you considered running the numbers on the number of combat vs noncombat mechanics, and how many mechanics have a downside? (I *think* it's three? Maybe four or five, depending on how you classify them.)

Wish I could have edited this better. I tried to get some slides to slide up one after the other, but I couldn't make it work since they were all at different zooms and I ran out of time trying to make it work. Ah well, I'm proud of how it turned out anyway.
