This whole adventure has been a real learning experience for people who self-identify as optimists. And also pessimists.
I guess it's good that we've all gotten past "surely *this* will be too much for Republicans" that many of us believed in ~2016–2018. Trump can literally bulldoze the White House and Republicans are cool with it. He can hand himself a quarter billion from the Treasury and that's OK. Anything goes.
