Conversations that have me a bit of hope.. Practicing these kinds of direct & compassionate conversations is a muscle I need to flex more, & I’m so grateful to Ivan & Christa for giving me the grace & space to talk through this with them.
Conversations that gave me a bit of hope
Because I had lost a little recently, especially with regards to 1:1 conversations...

I’m actively searching for submissions from Black authors for Mareas! If you're writing literary sci-fi, fantasy, magical realism, or anything that blends genres with bold, resonant themes, I want to read it. Your work deserves a champion, and I can be that person! #booksky #authorsky

If you could give any book its moment on Bluesky…

I’d pick Strega by Johanne Lykke Holm. It’s gothic perfection 🤌 I love this book because it explores coming of age and violence against women so well, without being gratuitous. This was truly written for the girls.

I posted this over on the Bad Place™️, but I wrote Aurea in 2020 partially as a reflection of the 2016 US election cycle, as in, "let's NEVER do that again," and remain so, so tired of realizing how few people care about other people. I will never stop writing about those who do. ⚔️ #writingcommunity

I think it’s time for this reading slump to end so that I actually have something to say here 😅

I have barely been tracking my reading this year and it has been a huge relief. I’d guess I’ve probably read 30ish new books, reread 20ish, and DNF’ed at least 30… but I haven’t really been in any slumps or felt like I HAVE to read anything specific.

I have loved horror books and movies for as long as I can remember but never imagined I would write it. Since I started drafting this haunted house story last week, things are coming together so much quicker and easier than anything else I’ve ever written.

Going from writing a fantasy romance in third person past, to a contemporary no romance in first person present, feels very weird 😬

Someone told me that this app may seem very empty because of this default setting that requires replies to have 2 likes or more before they show up.

Indeed! I changed it so that all replies show up, and suddenly the place seems much more lively. I highly recommend changing it in your settings.
