Here's a sentence with an exclamation point!

Here's a regular sentence with a period where I say what I want to say. Now here's another exclamation point so you don't think I'm a bitch!

I just need two: “Economic headwinds.”
In honour of spooky month, share a 4 word horror story that only someone in your profession would understand.

Alrght everybody, get your Tin Can Telephones out. We need your help!

We reach new people by word of mouth. Send all your educator friends this pic! Teachers, librarians, scout troop leaders, etc! We offer our program for free, so we need help getting the word out without advertising $$.

The surprise Michael Bay cameo here reminds me that even though I’ve transitioned from TV/film journalism to writing about animals and conservation, Hollywood still has a way of creeping in.

I Am Running Out of Facts About Red Pandas
I am a drowning man, sinking under the weight of expectation, pulled toward the murky depths of adult fallibility. I’m glad my children love going ...

Went to Target for the first time since January to spend some gift cards (if they already have the $ from the gift card and you don’t claim any merchandise, they win). Smaller than average crowd for a weekend, but what really struck me were the empty shelves. Haven’t seen it like that since 2020.

Happy Caturday, or maybe I should say Kittenday?

If you’re having feelings about Disney rn, the new Knights of Guinevere is a great watch, because Dana Terrace has an even more complicated relationship with Disney than you do. Weirdly beautiful and instantly intriguing, it’s anti-capitalist art, pure and uncut.

Thank you all for the amazing kitten name suggestions. I didn’t expect to get so many! Arthur says hello and bless you, his Bluesky subjects. (We’re calling him Arthur because he hitchhiked a ride to my workplace and that’s how I got him.)

Hindsight! It ran for one season in VH1, of all places. Think Peggy Sue Got Married for Gen-X. Cruelly cut short after one season and left off on a cliffhanger.

Timeline cleanse. I brought home a kitten from work this week. He still doesn’t have a name. We’re taking suggestions.

Since I’m now back to working in an office I missed dropping off my kids for their first day of high school (at a very famous high school). I love my husband but he didn’t take any good pics and now I’m bummed.

We’re deeply disappointed negotiations for a global plastics treaty have ended without a final agreement.
Over the past 3 years, the momentum has been undeniable. The world now understands, plastic is a full lifecycle problem that demands systemic solutions, & that its health impacts are profound.

Getting back into work after only like 10 months away and the tools I used to use (Airtable, MailChimp, Canva, etc) are now infested with useless AI “helpers.” They’re 10x more frustrating and harder to use. I can do things myself, let me opt out!

Felt the Sunday scaries creeping up (it happens when you’re unemployed too, because it means getting back to searching and applying for jobs) but then I remembered that I work at the zoo now.

Someone (or several someones) could create an amazing and popular media site by scooping up some of the talented writers out of work right now. It’s possible to do it in a non-exploitative, reader-forward way. The big companies just don’t want to because it give creatives too much power.

I'm not watching WAR OF THE WORLDS and I don't think you should either. Why? Because the bean counters at Amazon don't see hate-watching as a bad thing. In fact, they are playing to that.
You Won't Make Me Watch The Worst Non-Movie Of The Year
No, I'm not going to watch that movie everyone is saying is so awful that I have to see it. I'm not falling for that trap.
