Pathways to nature connection? A photo-elicitation exploration on how children engage with a nature connection programme
While environmental education programmes have been shown to be effective in increasing knowledge and pro-environmental behaviour, it is not clear what characteristics of the intervention contribute...

Using photo-elicitation interviews, children took photos on a wetland visit and then talked about them 📸🌿
This helped “open the black box” of environmental education by centring children’s own perspectives and experiences. (2/3)

Congrats to Magie Junker on her 1st PhD paper 🎉, published in Environmental Education Research

The study explores how children connected with nature during Generation Wild (designed & delivered by @wwtworldwide.bsky.social ) using photo-elicitation interviews 📸🌿

Public support for climate action is solid but conditional. People believe in climate change and value environmental protection, but doubt fairness of climate policies. Govt & business need to show leadership otherwise support for climate measures may fade (infra4nextgen.com/wp-content/u...) (8/8)
infra4nextgen.com

⚖️ Fairness gap: Perhaps most importantly, a major finding is that many citizens see climate policies as lacking fairness. Few believe future policies will be unbiased or inclusive, and many think governments and businesses are not doing their fair share. (7/)

✊ Engagement: Younger adults are most active in climate groups, protests, and petition signing, while older groups show higher willingness to contribute financially. (7/)

🏭 Responsibility: People assign the most responsibility to business and industry, followed by governments and then individuals. (6/)

🌍 Climate concern: Over 90% in every country agree that the climate is changing, although levels of personal worry vary widely. (5/)

⚡ Policy support: Subsidising renewable energy has broad support (65%). Views on fossil-fuel taxes and appliance bans are more mixed. (4/)

🌱 Environmental protection over growth: Across all countries, most people prioritise protecting the environment over economic growth and jobs. Support is strongest in Portugal (80%) and still a majority in Poland (54%). (3/)

The report looks at how people across Europe think about climate change, who they believe should take responsibility, and which climate policies they are willing to support. (2/)

A few findings that stood out:

New research out today on European public opinion on climate change, fairness, and climate action, using data from the #CRONOS3 panel across 11 countries (2024–25).(1/)

Bottom line: modest reallocation of road space to well-designed, segregated cycle lanes is widely accepted – but removing parking risks backlash.

Open access article: doi.org/10.1016/j.tb...

Key findings:
• Segregated lanes > painted (for cyclists and drivers)
• Reallocate road space > footpaths
• Removing car parking is consistently unpopular
• Strongest resistance from those who see any change as an attack on freedom to drive (3/4)

We asked 509 people in Britain how street space should be reallocated for cycling – testing combos of bike lanes, traffic restrictions and cycle parking using a Best–Worst Scaling experiment. (2/4)

📢 New paper out: “Preferences for urban street space reallocation to encourage cycling” with Isabella Malet Lambert, Dimitris Potoglou, Dimitrios Xenias and me. (1/4)
