🔋China has finalized hundreds of new and revised national standards, including EV battery safety rules.

The updated standard, GB 38031-2025, takes effect July 1, 2026, and requires EV batteries to not catch fire or explode under standard test conditions.

HM Treasury have confirmed the review of the 'discount rate' used in the Green Book.

This is the rate used in business cases to discount future values in the calculation of benefit cost ratios. Is usually 3.5% now. The higher the rate, the lower the value of the future.

Having tried to do prevention (and promotion) of health and overall wellbeing for the best part of 15 years, this from Rosie is good ⬇️ especially the last point.
Sadly yesterday was @rosiebeacon.bsky.social's last day at @re-state.bsky.social. She leaves a great legacy in our really influential health policy programme.

Glad she left us with this absolute banger of a blog about the dangerous policy memes in health prevention.
