This convo I had highlights the difference in what "respect your time" means in games.
A lot of players want to trade time for in-game progress. It's purely transactional: 1 hour = 1 progress

I think if you see someone reading in public and assume they’re doing it performatively that says rather more about you than it does them, and I think it’s bad for us to develop a cultural stigma around reading, a thing we shouldn’t be trying to discourage, in public or anywhere
Someone's really going to have to spell out exactly why reading a second hand book outside a coffee shop is bad/ "performative"
