The aim to have more integrated harm reduction services such as a SSP at [redacted] even predates when I started at [redacted] in 2019.
Other than differing views on harm reduction from an institutional level (also different laws around paraphernalia in place until mid-2023), a big reason for pausing these attempts for a couple of years was COVID taking priority in many ways; because of the hard work of several people, we were able to launch in June 2024
Harm reduction has long been an effective tool of engagement, care linkage & access for recovery services.
