I’ve curated another starter pack, this time to make it easier to find artists working in the illustration and comics fields! (If you qualify to be on this list but are not on it let me know, I will fill it up until it hits the 150 limit!)

The audiobook of "Swordheart" by @tkingfisher.com is on sale at Chirp for $3.99 today. It works as a standalone even tho the series (Hugo finalist World of the White Rat) technically starts with Clockwork Boys.

Daggerbound (Swordheart #2) comes out next August!

I’ve met a fair number of dudes at dog parks who are like “yes, my dog is one-eighth mighty Alaskan gray wolf” and I’ve nodded politely at what is very clearly a Labradoodle.

The lessons for heavy DIYers to take from this, btw:

If your doctor says your insurance won't approve a newly-released drug you really want to try, don't despair. Ask them if they're willing to do a "peer to peer" if you draft the justification for them to edit to save time.

I hate it when that happens
Found the chart! It was on Twitter, username was @ DelKittyy but I'm not sure if they were the original maker or not.

Drawing again has made me realize how often I’d see a piece of art I admired and I’d think “That’s so cool, I could never do that,”

when I couldn’t have any idea of what style or vibe I’d cultivate if I just kept practicing. If I’d even want to make something like that once I’d learned how.

"You saved me," he said. "Not just from the Mouse King - from a terrible curse, too. Will you do me the honour of accompanying me to my home, the Land of Sweets?"

They travelled by swan over gold-flecked oceans & silver-edged cities. 4/

We got an aura frame for ourselves (thanks to those who recommended it for my mom and nana, they’ll open theirs later…crossing fingers) and it’s already paid for itself in laughs due to the fact that we can now cycle through all the memes others have made of our dog. 🐕 🏄🏻‍♀️🌊

1/5 Seeing some tech/ai slop accounts online claiming that AI has always been used in games, pretending GenAi is a part of that, when its absolutely not.

Yes, AI has always been a part of games in: NPC behaviors, Data Mining, PCG’s (Procedural Content Generation) etc

All different from GenAi!

Great horned owl behind our house! I think/hope it's the juvenile that we called Gronker that we saw a few years ago. This was about their favorite spot to hang as well. I'll find a video of them soon. (Hopefully)

Making art is not all joy and fungus reanimated bunnies! That’s okay. That’s normal. That’s part of why art is important and also why artists and writers need to be paid for their work. If you keep dragging yourself back even when it’s hard, you’re doing fine.

So particularly if you are new to this and seeing frequent “if you don’t like making [art] don’t be an [artist!]” and thinking “But sometimes I DON’T like it…” and Imposter Syndrome is gathering you close and whispering you’re-nothings in your ear, please push it away.

Me, but art. I love art. It's still my job. And there are bits that feel like excruciating and self inflicted torture
I have a fantastic job that I love, but it’s still, y’know, my job. Roughly 95% of the time, I would still rather be stretched out on the beach with a margarita and a bird guide.

(Roughly 20% of the time, I would rather be stretched out under the beach being gently scavenged by hermit crabs.)

I would like to articulate one of the BIGGEST misconceptions about cat breed genetics by talking about the NEBELUNG!

An extremely rare breed with only SIX(6) in the whole US, and no breeders, yet one that thousands of folk online are convinced they own.

Your cat is NOT any breed, and that's okay.

But I also hate it because the more misinformation spreads, the more it gets treated as common knowledge which also makes it harder to track breed-specific health issues, or preserve these rarer breeds.

People are in love with the idea of having rare breeds, but hate the folk educating about them.

So, why does this matter? I mean, while it's ultimately harmless, I hate the idea that there are THOUSANDS of people who are in love with the IDEA of having a nebelung while the actual breed is currently on the verge of extinction. And because unethical folk will breed for color to sell a "rare cat"
