Hi, I’m the human version of the energizer bunny!

You may remember me from such moments as loudly singing while riding my bike, compulsively picking up trash, or dressing as the MAX every year on Halloween. AK & PNW based.

There is an abundance of love, wonder, kindness, and joy in this world. I refuse to believe anything else.
Was poking around on my health app, and, if I’m doing my math right, it looks like today I surpassed 10 million steps total for the year so far! :o

Despite the rain, myself and one other person went out and had a wonderful time! We picked up three bags of trash, enjoyed some small joys we found in the neighborhood, and left a message with the rocks we painted!

I was walking to school picking up trash this morning like I normally do, and I found this golden ticket in the gutter!

It’s funny, I’ve walked and biked along about 85% of where Route 71 goes, and I’ve been there countless times since I use those routes often, but today was actually my first time riding Route 71

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

We're socialized to constantly apologize for being too outwardly excited about things, but this world is so full of terror and misery that I'd rather see those bursts of light and passion shine through the cracks wherever you can find them.

An interesting phenomenon I’ve observed with my own riding is that more often than not, cars driving actually slow ME down when they are driving in front of me. Cars stop more frequently, and they slow down for speed bumps or to avoid obstacles when I do not need to
#TBT to our 2020 study that busted a myth: Cyclists don't slow down cars on neighborhood streets.

The difference in car speeds with & without a bicycle present was less than 1 mph.

This evidence supports the design of safe street networks like neighborhood greenways: trec.pdx.edu/news/do-bicy...

The story doesn’t say which parts of the seismic network are going to lose funding, but a lot of the stations in Alaska also have all-in-one weather stations attached to them. This could mean an even greater loss of weather data across Alaska.
