I yell about abortion and swim in cold water.
it's been said a million times but i love the idea that rich people will live anywhere besides new york. you'll have to pry those penthouses overlooking central park and tribeca lofts out of their cold dead hands, bffr

My senior year of high school we read INVISIBLE MAN and BELOVED and I’ve never been the same.
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

Not sure I can quite capture the feeling of filling in the little bubble next to:

Zohran
Kwame
Mamdani

The only tragedy of the Mamdani win is that the era of Cuomo dunks is over. RIP to a real one

My absolute happy place is being at the bar of a small, moodily lit New York City restaurant eating steak frites and a side of broccolini with a perfect cocktail

Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

Every movement worker should read Unrig the Game by @vanessapriyadaniel.bsky.social. Leaders will feel seen; hopefully team members will see how they can also cause harm. Thank you, Vanessa, for putting this all into (beautiful, vindicating) words.

Many, many cultures have coffee rituals, very weird to call this an American phenomenon
Tariffs have rapidly increased the price of coffee—a drink with almost no nutritional value and lots of functional substitutes. Yet coffee may also be the one thing Americans can’t live without, @elcush.bsky.social writes:
The Drink That Americans Won’t Give Up Without a Fight
Coffee has almost no nutritional value and lots of substitutes. It’s also, apparently, too important to lose.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

The online abortion pill guide @plancpills.bsky.social has been redesigned to make it even easier to learn where to get pills, including at no cost. The redesign comes as state officials have threatened investigations and potential lawsuits against the organization.

The site was taken down after the host was sent a cease and desist by PPSE attorneys
There is an excellent breakdown on the site but here's the gist:
- A real estate agent/HR consultant with no repro experience was hired by a board member then quickly became interim CEO with no visible hiring process
- She's also a trustee at an extremely conservative, anti-LGBTQ+ college
Planned Parenthood Southeast has been taken over by anti abortion …real estate agents. It is dark and awful and you should learn about it and sign the petition and demands that @ppfa.org DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT sites.google.com/keacali.com/...

Fortunately I was wearing my “abortion is community care” pin and I saw him clock it 😏
Thinking about the man I saw this weekend tabling at an event wearing a shirt that said ABOLITIONIST. But it was actually a church’s table and he was standing next to a sign that said ABOLISH ABORTION and I said no thank you

So last week when I said I was done holding my tongue on Planned Parenthood it was because I learned #ppse laid off most of the regions policy staff. But that was just the tip of the iceberg. www.saveppse.com
