People who disagree with means testing the state pension must also disagree with means testing other state benefits.

Should the UK grant Universal Credit at the full amount, with its annual uprating, to all who apply?

Child Benefit income thresholds to be scrapped?

Pension contribution limits?
It’s also perhaps the dawning realisation that a vetted immigrant has been even partially radicalised by their opposition to Trump’s administration.
The fundamental thing to understand about this administration is the president is a grumpy retiree. He has no interest in working anymore. Which leads to him being pissed that he is getting asked a question, pissed he has to show up and work, the scheming viziers running the show, etc..
“You’re a stupid person” — Trump lashes out at a reporter who presses him on the fact that the suspected DC shooter was actually thoroughly vetted before he was let in the US from Afghanistan

If Labour wanted to fix the UK it would seek to rejoin the EU.

It’s really quite straightforward.

It’d also legislate for constitutional reforms to improve its democracy with an elected upper chamber and threshold rules for referendums so a disaster like Brexit can’t happen again.

CEO’s take millions of pounds home, too. Why? How is their line of work benefitting society?
UK gambling industry made £15.6bn in 2024 (£16.8bn in 2025)

Most companies holed up in Gibraltar & Malta, dodge UK taxes. Some pay corporation tax at the rate of 3%-4%. No VAT on gambling.

Public bears the cost of gambling addiction.

Firms resent paying extra tax to clear their mess.

Tax them.

The chancellor is in effect retaining a tax cut for the better off in society.

Also she will be encouraging use of ICE vehicles. How does that square with the green agenda?
When can you declare an emergency over?

The 5p “emergency” petrol tax cut was introduced in March 2022, to offset a spike in prices

They are now about 30p down on that month, & about 50p down on the absolute peak

The UK Foreign Office seriously needs to update its advice on travel to the US.
ICE arrests, detains British woman with US husband and newborn when she shows up for her green card interview. She’s now in a detention center, separated from her 6-month-old. No criminal record. She had overstayed her visa.

One of its early successes in this endeavour?

Brexit.
Russia's feasting on Western polarization like it's a candy store, sowing division through infrastructure hits and election hacks to fracture NATO allies. Unity's the antidote to this cynical ploy. #Russia

Journalists aren’t journalists nowadays, they’re wannabe celebrities.

And, along with politicians, they’re hooked on the scrolling-fuelled 24h instant news machine.

Then, add means testing.

Simply add the names Evans and Dannatt to the bill that removes the peerages of Michelle Mone and Peter Mandelson.

There is no need for tinkering with temporary suspensions - these individuals do not deserve the privileges granted to them.

One of the many problems with Owen Jones.

This is one of the reasons Zack Polanski should cease platforming Owen Jones - if he really wants to show a break from the past, and a point of difference from Labour & Corbynism.
Had a peek at X and barely anyone I know is still there but Owen Jones, Ash Sarkar and Aaron Bastani are all still posting daily, hmm

Would not be so certain of the United States’ yearning to “achieve lasting peace.”

The Russian surrender agreement they foisted on Ukraine and Europe gives a distinctly different impression.
Ukraine,Europe,&the US want to achieve lasting peace

What does Russia want?
Russia does not want peace. Its goals are rather the lifting or postponement of sanctions against Russia's largest oil companies,Rosneft&Lukoil

Are there any guarantees that Putin will agree to the US-Ukrainian agreement? No
November 24, 2025 at 10:20 AM
Trump is obsessed with (1) himself and (2) money.

Understand those things, understand Trump.
So, the Russian dude whom Marco Rubio, Jared Kushner, and Steve Witkoff, Trump's crypto business partner, met with in Miami to hammer out this "peace" proposal is head of Moscow's sovereign wealth fund. It sure leaves one to wonder whether Trump's true agenda was his long-coveted Trump Tower Moscow.

A US president, doing Russia’s handy-work.

Trump will end up dismantling NATO, strengthening Putin’s march toward his Soviet ambitions, and weaken Europe significantly - all while damning Ukraine to defeat and generations of proxy Russian dictatorship.
Donald Trump is out with another unhinged attack on Ukraine as he pressures President Zelensky to accept his “Peace plan,” which amounts to Ukrainian capitulation:

“Ukraine leadership has expressed zero gratitude for our efforts.”

It’s time for Europe to forge a future where the US is ambiguously neither friend or foe.

Trump’s fealty to Putin is being played out on the geopolitical stage, and it is horrendous to watch in real time.

Trump talks of NATO as if it is some foreign institution - not one founded by the US. Scary.

Russian agent on the White House lawn! Somebody tell the president.

“Ukraine war with Russia” - interesting phrasing.
Q: Is this your final offer to Ukraine?

TRUMP: No. One way or the other we have to get it ended. He can continue to fight his little heart out.

Russian propaganda being pumped into the minds of Americans at the behest of a hostile foreign actor, Vladimir Putin.

This is crazy to see.

Only under Trump could this happen.

History will not look kindly upon 2025 American politics.
VARNEY: This deal in my opinion would be a win for Putin. You happy with that?

MARKWAYNE MULLIN: It's a win for both. Kyiv was never gonna be able to put back into Ukraine -- not Kyiv, but uh, uh, uh, my mind has slipped me

V: Crimea

M: Crimea. They kind of see themselves as more Russian anyways

We can assume, from her response here, that tradwife Leavitt would have absolutely no problem with being told "quiet, piggy!" as - in her words - it's just being frank, transparent, and open.
Defending rude, indecent, and misogynistic conduct as "frankness" and "transparency." What a role model.
Q: What did the president mean when he called a reporter "piggy"?

LEAVITT: Look, the president is very frank & honest with everyone in this room. You'll all seen it yourself. You've all experienced it yourselves. And I think it's one of the many reasons the American people reelected this president
November 21, 2025 at 4:11 PM
Trump is emboldened to freely call for the execution of political opponents because he's allowed to get away with things like, "Quiet! Quiet, piggy!". It's an extension of that impunity that allows the patient to act like this - and get away with it.

It's also how Trump and GOP behave with Putin.
Rep Chrissy Houlahan also forcefully points out that virtually no Republicans have condemned Trump's call for Democrats' execution. How is that not a bigger story?

I also asked her if Dems should file impeachment articles. Here's the key exchange on all this:
