Interesting:

Meta created React Native. It’s used (with components at least) in their flagship apps: Facebook (iOS, Android), Instagram (Meta Quest), Messenger (desktop).

Google created Flutter. And yet none of their flagship apps use it (Gmail, YouTube, Maps, Calendar).

Good food for thought, for those of you who take notes!

I take notes because it is how I process & digest what I am hearing. Also I am firmly in the “writing is thinking” camp ✍️

Thanks @cassidoo.co 👏
#blogvent Day 2 is here!

I wrote about note-taking, one of my fave topics, and strategies I use to not just use notes to hoard information!

Quite a lot of discussion around @bsky.app here at #KubeCon, and consensus that it was @kelseyhightower.com 's clear exit from the other place that was the tipping point for the cloud native community coming over here en masse. Thank you Kelsey for your leadership in this and so many other ways.

It’s perhaps important to contextualize and remember that when people talk about AI generated code stats, often it’s spinning up boilerplate that is modified just like when we cut and paste and modify from stack overflow or docs. Or migration efforts that were previously regex/compiler tooling

So you want to roll your own application platform. All you need is:

Linux
Docker
Kubernetes
Istio
Prometheus
Fluentd
Grafana
Jaeger
Harbor
Open Policy Agent
Vault
GitHub Actions and Argo CD

Oh, almost forgot, you're also going to need servers, people, and glue. Bring lots of glue.
