My little sister asked for some colorful wall art for her birthday so yesterday I made her this gouache painting on a piece of recycled wine mom wall decor from the thrift store. This was really fun and I’m quite happy with how it turned out.

This summer I helped my mom clean out my grandma’s art studio. I ended up leaving with a few of her crochet hooks with the goal of learning how to make a granny square and 5 months later, I finally did. Gotta say, learning to do handwork in this era of mass vomited AI slop feels very, very healing.

Spent the afternoon drawing birds at the Field Museum and I have two highlights: 1. When a bunch of kids on class trip stopped to tell me “you draw good!” 2. The happiest face I got when one kid told me she likes drawing anime and I flipped my sketch book open to a drawing of Sailor Jupiter
