This summer I helped my mom clean out my grandma’s art studio. I ended up leaving with a few of her crochet hooks with the goal of learning how to make a granny square and 5 months later, I finally did. Gotta say, learning to do handwork in this era of mass vomited AI slop feels very, very healing.

Sadly I am a fraud who doesn’t actually watch anime. The Sailor Jupiter drawing was something I worked on with one of my one on one art students who also loves anime. I am old and the only anime I know is Sailor Moon. But honestly look at this. So good for a seven year old!

Spent the afternoon drawing birds at the Field Museum and I have two highlights: 1. When a bunch of kids on class trip stopped to tell me “you draw good!” 2. The happiest face I got when one kid told me she likes drawing anime and I flipped my sketch book open to a drawing of Sailor Jupiter

My friend Oday is the eldest of five siblings. His family have lost their home and income due to the violent occupation and genocide in Gaza. They are currently sheltered in a place where the occupation forces are advancing and there is constant bombing. They are in danger every day.
Your money will help Oday's family pay for travel costs to evacuate South, a tent to live in, and food. All these things are extremely expensive due to scarce supplies coming into Gaza, and huge commision costs.

When I got laid off I thought I’d finally have time to work on all my personal projects. Instead I spent 6 months recovering from burnout and tending to my mental health 🥲

Got those post #socialism2025 blues and decide to watch Howard Zinn: A People’s History of the United States while folding laundry and was reminded of Chicago’s deep history of resistance and of these portraits I made a while back of two of my favorite badasses, Emma Goldman and Lucy Parsons 🥖🌹✊🏼
