“One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This” by Omar El Akkad excerpt from page 88 … so powerfully written and true, I feel so overwhelmed and numb from all of the horrors that sometimes it does feel like Im losing my soul.

Reading “One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This” by Omar El Akkad. So many concepts / questions Im adding to my notes app to reflect on (in addition to directly facing the horrors inflicted on people in the world today). Excerpt from page 117.

Never send me another fundraising email if you cave on this … what was the point if you give in without any actual commitments. Their words are meaningless.

“Every accusation is a confession”
These fucking idiots took emails of Hillary Clinton ordering pizza and turned them into a child trafficking scheme, but they’re perfectly fine with Donald Trump being best friends with the most notorious sex trafficker of our time.

Robert Plant - with Led Zeppelin and then a solo career from the 60’s to 90’s. And he put out great albums with Allison Krauss in the 2007 and 2021 too.

If women submitting to men was a natural way of being, they would not have needed laws, religion & violence to get them to do it.

“Fitting in is about assessing a situation and becoming who you need to be to be accepted. Belonging, on the other hand, doesn’t require us to change who we are, it requires us to be who we are. - Brene Brown in the “We can do hard things” book

If Dems fail to make Signal leak an incessant story demanding resignations/impeachment, it would be a mirror image of Benghazi, her emails, etc. In face of GOP zone-flooding, Dems cowered instead of calling bullshit; now when GOP says Signal leak is NBD, a failure to push back would be catastrophic.

I don’t have to agree with the Gaza protestors to defend their right to protest.

And I don’t have to want Venezuelan gang members to be here on our soil, to defend their right to due process.

Either we are a nation of laws or we are not.

And if we are not, then all is lost.

“We have far more than 87k rapes in this country every year, but each of them is invariably portrayed as an isolated incident. We have dots so close, they’re splatters melting into a stain, but hardly anyone connects them, or names that stain.” @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social
