With current pledges, the world's on track for 2.6°C of warming in 2100 compared to preindustrial levels.

10 years ago, before the Paris agreement, it was 3.6°C

20+ years ago, we thought it would be 4-5°C

So 2.6°C is better, but the problem is that climate impacts are way worse than we predicted.
World still on track for catastrophic 2.6C temperature rise, report finds
Fossil fuel emissions have hit a record high while many nations have done too little to avert deadly global heating

Briefing for a descent into hell.
Can this possibly be true? The mind and heart revolt.
The allegation here is that wealthy tourists paid to be able to shoot human beings. Perhaps killing wildlife wasn't enough for them. If true, psychopathic scarcely begins to cover it.

Beautiful concert last night at the City Halls with Yeol Eum Son and, for me, the best of the Scottish orchestras, @scomusic.bsky.social .
The only disappointment was the number of empty seats, which neither Yeol Son nor the orchestra deserved.
Everybody must have been out guising.

A wander down the Strath Eck glacial valley this afternoon, starting from Harry Lauder's memorial to his son John, killed on the 28th December 1916.
Some time ago there was a debate as to whether John Lauder was an early, modern victim of 'fragging'.

Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro says 'I'd rather die' than use generative AI
Del Toro's new Frankenstein adaption reimagines Mary Shelley's 1818 Gothic novel. Frankenstein was like a tech bro: "creating something without considering the consequences," he explains.

Leverkusen who played a final against Zidane's Real. Ajax who thrilled us in 3 European Cup finals. Eintracht, runners up in what many call the greatest European Cup Final ever, all into the grinder these last 2 nights conceding 17 goals between them. Where's the jeopardy? What a farce it is now.

Through to Edinburgh today for the Andy Goldsworthy exhibition at the National Galleries of Scotland and Scottish Ballet's brilliant 'Mary, Queen of Scots'. Unfortunately the Goldsworthy only has a few days left to run but if you have a chance to see 'Mary, Queen of Scots' don't pass it up.

My mum still lives at home aged 92 although she suffers from dementia now. She has a paper delivered and today I got a call from the shop saying the paperboy had reported that she hadn't taken yesterday's paper from the letterbox and they were phoning so I could check on her. Everyday decency works.

Dr Goodall was one of the true conservation giants of our time. Let’s honour her legacy by choosing to make a difference in the world - by protecting it.

Thank you, Jane, for everything you did for our planet. 💚
