The right does indeed have a big Bluesky problem.

X gave the right an opportunity to 'own the libs' and persuade the persuadables to join their side.

Bluesky could deprive them of both.

Fighting voucher programs involves helping people understand how costly they are to state & school budgets, how they mostly help well-off families w/ kids already in private schools, how they prop up religious institutions, how little oversight there is, & how much fraud is facilitated by them.
School Vouchers Were Supposed to Save Taxpayer Money. Instead They Blew a Massive Hole in Arizona’s Budget.
Arizona, the model for voucher programs across the country, has spent so much money paying private schoolers’ tuition that it’s now facing hundreds of millions in budget cuts to critical state program...

NEW: Private schools across the South that were established for white children during desegregation are now benefiting from tens of millions in taxpayer dollars flowing from rapidly expanding voucher-style programs, a @propublica analysis found.

Additional note; this system pushes all the expense of special needs children onto the public school system, since the voucher-supported schools say they’re “not equipped” or “not staffed” to take them.

The language used in Mississippi in the 1960s to create a school voucher program that perpetuated segregation—giving children “the right to choose the educational environment they desire”—is almost identical to what’s used today in the US to push vouchers. www.propublica.org/article/miss...
Segregation Academies in Mississippi Are Benefiting From Public Dollars, as They Did in the 1960s
ProPublica identified 20 schools in the state that likely opened as segregation academies and have received almost $10 million over the past six years from the state’s tax credit donation program.

Liberty Christian School in Durham, NC got almost a million $ in voucher funding this year.

Liberty's primary educational objective is "to bring each student to a saving knowledge and relationship with Jesus Christ."

They should not be getting taxpayer funding.

What are they afraid of?

If I and other school voucher critics are wrong, the voucher lobby wouldn’t have to force their legislators to do this.

Northeast Academy is a small Christian school in rural NC.

Last school year, it received $438,500 from the state-funded private school voucher program.

As of 2022, “the school’s enrollment was 99% white in a county that runs about 40% white.”

This is their plan for America. 👀

I’ve finally realized that most of us gravitate to a known brand. Political Populism is here to stay. Oprah: fund a Kamala PBS Doc.The View: Give her a seat at the table daily! Mattel: create a Kamala doll. Hollywood: Produce an action movie 🍿. That’s the way we win. Good ideas don’t matter.🤨

How fascists control a small town?
1. Local officials refuse to publicly discuss important agenda items.
2. Leaders reduce or eliminate public comments at public meetings.
3. Local media fears loss of advertising from wealthy political donor businesses.
4. Voter Apathy. Every election counts!

It’s finally hit me. Tonight I became anxious and trembling. I feel blessed, guilty, and afraid for my children and grands who have to live in the wake of what is coming. I couldn’t sit through the musical “Waitress” at FST watching misogyny and smothered lives. This is so hard.
