Happy bandcamp Friday! If you need more suggestions, I recomment the new Squanderers album. Meditative and beautiful and shreddy in an unassuming way. @wendyeyes.bsky.social does not miss.

absolutely gutted to learn of the passing of Susan Alcorn, an incredibly gifted improviser, arranger, and musician who bridged so many musical worlds. We just hung out last week at her show in Baltimore with David Grubbs. I am in shock at this loss but grateful to her for her work and her example.

Done been profiled in the Brooklyn Rail . Intensely flattering and very thoughtful writing by Romulo Moraes. Improvisation is more crucial a practice than ever. Stay true!

I can’t believe all of these fucks and what they’re doing out of blithe cruelty

Trans lives are full and real, trans issues are everyone’s issues, trans kids are love. For these maniacs transness is an abstraction, a bravery that reminds them of their own impotence. For me, it makes me stay alive

i am constantly hearing that the left is elitist but if it is elitism to stand up for basic values of citizenship and decency against a bunch of cruel dumbasses who have no greater ambition than to tell bad jokes and hear the braying laughter of their dumbass friends, then i am an elitist
these people make me into a social conservative but for social democratic values

A thing learned in 2024 that I can’t get over is that if you live in Brooklyn you can prolly see @moreeazemusic.bsky.social @wendyeyes.bsky.social & a bunch of their 🔥 friends playing pretty much every month, maybe 2, 3 x a month in various forms. It’s all there for you, ffs, take it now, for me!

Keep playing your guitar. Keep painting that sunset. Keep writing that screenplay. Even at the level of hobbyist you are richer than these people could ever dream of in ways they will never, ever have. They know it, so should you.
