Not often I can say I’ve tried a truly new bus route in the neighborhood I grew up in (probably ~22 years 😅)

The routes that use Nebraska Ave not doing a deviation to serve 40th St/Fort Dr and the Tenleytown metro station is fine but a stop at Albemarle St needs to be added then.

So Chevy Chase Pavilion is now one pinball arcade and the Cheesecake Factory for businesses. That certainly feels dystopian

I don’t mind the stop placement map here but I’m not sure without the context of the lines *where* the buses actually run rather than labels telling you the final destination is the best decision. They also got one of these placements wrong I think

Reminded today that I think frequency determines ridership as much as the inverse. Especially for the average length of trip on the corridor I do think that moving to 15, if not 10 minute, headways was something we should have gotten with the WMATA bus redesign on Connecticut Ave for the D70

Architecture schools often have the ugliest buildings around. I even like some examples of brutalism and it’s just comical
Rudolph Hall houses Yale University’s School of Architecture. Designed by architect Paul Rudolph and opened in 1963, this building is one of the earliest and best known examples of Brutalist architecture in the U.S.! 🤩🏢

I’m a couple weeks away from coming back to DC for much of November and taking a look at the bus redesign and there are certainly some massive wins (specifically crosstown connectivity from my house). I’m still utterly baffled at the lack of PDF schedules though as I find more quirks in bus routes

Telling a bus driver to smile more as a group of people rush a bus in front of the passenger in a wheelchair you have to realistically take first is a hell of a way to treat a public servant. Cruises ship passengers continue staying the worst group of people to deal with

@wmata.com getting rid of the bus schedule PDF’s for the new bus network is so unbelievably rider unfriendly. I was hoping that this was just a delay with them not being ready on the first day but we are almost two weeks into this new network now

It’s somewhat amusing looking at all of the WMATA wraps online and seeing just how rail heavy many of them are, especially given that more transit trips within the District are made by bus (at least historically)

Return of SEPTA's classic trolleys delayed until later this fall
The green and cream-colored trolleys were pulled from the tracks in January 2020 to undergo renovations. They were expected to return Sunday

In reality National handles the most passengers in the region right now 😏

Having large federal subsidies and state one on top of that in most cases for EV’s but nothing for e-bikes (or subsidies for transit operations) annoys me more and more as I look to actually buy a car 😔

Just an incredible take from someone who was a week ago telling us that it was hopeless to fight for change within the US and that we should merely move, preferably to another continent and then blocked everyone who pushed back.

Sometimes I forget just how efficient even a relative mediocre bus route can be. L2 I’m on has probably carried 75+ passengers on its journey northbound despite paralleling the Red Line for much of its route and generally being the reverse peak direction
August 11, 2023 at 1:30 PM
The proofing on these WMATA service notices for weekend track work is just not good enough. The Red Line service is not described correctly at all in then initial paragraph but is described correctly later on.
