the point of DDI is to have struggling schools dig their own graves by supplying the district with ample evidence to close or restructure them

The parents are really struggling with their low grades, but these kids can’t even write 100 words with sentence stems.

I have multiple 6th grade students this year that came from private catholic schools, who earned honor roll, straight As etc and have an identity as good students. But they are all below grade level in reading and writing and are struggling with basic skills like independently summarizing a text.

I’m convinced private schools are selling parents “good students” instead of actually teaching students essential skills.

Technologist Victor Riparbelli sees a future where students interact with AI avatars rather than read and write. We ask teachers and kids what they think and how they're using AI right now.
Will AI avatars eventually teach our kids?

fwiw I still believe that good teaching practices are necessarily LLM proof (i teach middle school so i know the game is different). what truly astounds me is how obsessed my district is with using LLMs. even my content lead (in ELA!) was praising it. i feel like im going insane.
Similarly, the AI boom has forced teachers who actually care about student learning to radically reconfigure their classes in order to disincentivize students from using the cheating machines they now have easy access to and which systemically undermine student learning. No one asked for this.

the computer is an abomination before the eyes of the lord and should be hidden beneath the desk to live out its life in quiet ignominy.
Wait, are we not all keeping our PCs on top of our desks?

not only that, but every querulous, cowardly appeal for moderation, good optics, from wet toilet paper liberals was also developed as a response to Black radicalism.

I’m reading Radio Free Dixie by Timothy Tyson and every single page is a reminder that every atrocity we see committed by ICE, the police, the IDF, GHF, and all their mercenaries, paramilitaries and lackeys was pioneered and perfected by the Klan and their accomplices in the South.
