I know this isn't a forum for personal stuff (there doesn't seem to be a place for that kind of meaningful interaction any more), but today has brought me hope. I went to the doctor's, and I was listened to and heard. Who knew they still did that?!! #disabilitysky #mentalillness #bipolarlife #ageing

Took some time off social media. How refreshing. Checking in on everyone. Hope you've all been well.

It was a few years ago, but my cat and I shared a nasty flu virus (H1N1). In our instance, I picked it up during my commute and gave it to him. We were off work for a week. It was the first time I'd experienced cross-species illness, but Newt and I were peas and carrots, so it made sense.

#EA is a joke. #Veilguard failed because it wasn't live service?

Elder Scrolls Online. Fallout 76. Both big nopes.

Read the room.

No one wanted live service features. We didn't want them in DAI, and we didn't want them here. What we wanted was a #dragonage game rich with storytelling, dialogue and choices. Most of which was cut or buried beneath the bones of a linear, quest-to-quest and rightly discarded GaaS playstyle. #EA
EA CEO Andrew Wilson stated Dragon Age: The Veilguard failed due to its lack of live service features, despite strong reviews.

The game attracted only 1.5 million players, falling short of expectations in a competitive market.

I have no respect for anyone who mistreats #books. My (replacement) hardcopy orders for Hobbit, LOTR, and Silmarillion just arrived—thrown in a box with no protective covering. They are not damaged enough to send back (and they weren't expensive copies), but I am royally pissed off nonetheless.

The silence, yes. But also the overheard stage whispers, the picked up conversations at parties and social gatherings, the memes, comments and posts on social. You know, all those expressed words of the, "Of course, we don't mean you," variety.

It's taken four months of extended sick leave to finally feel capable of starting my recovery journey. But while I'm grateful to live in a country where I have decent paid sick leave, pressure is mounting to return to work—and I'm nowhere near ready.

As an #American and #immigrant living abroad for 20+ years, her observations are relatable; it's telling that my last trip home was in 2011. Typically, the comments were sprinkled with the #US 'greatest nation, and how dare you say otherwise' downvoting and occasional "Bye" because...how dare we. /s

Bad day. Everything hurts, and I can't stop crying. So, my fix? Harding's quest, of course. I love that quest; it never ceases to bring tears and give me pause.

Me, pretty much since 2020.

Something that bothers me: How do my #US #MAGA friends parse 1) being historically anti government-funded disability support with 2) supporting the removing #DEI employment protections, all while 3) not understanding why I don't just 'move back home' [to the greatest nation]?

An ex-appreciation post. He was by earlier to pick up his new tyres. We discussed our me-getting-a-new-PC project (he's building it because he's brilliant) and exchanged pleasantries. Taking the friendship and leaving the rest when a marriage fails is nice. This guy is one of my best friends.

This is a much older Newt hogging my chair. He died of cancer 10 Aug 2021, one day shy of his 17th birthday. Our last months together were extra special, and when he was ready, he let me know. He died peacefully, nestled in my arms purring. His vet Charlotte was amazing. I miss him so much.

Weird day. Two weeks of isolation is getting to me. Usually, I'm not that fussed; I went six months in isolation during the UK's Covid lockdown. But, I had Newt then. So, I wasn't really alone.

Just a ramble of a post. Lots on my mind. Here's a photo of young Newt and his teddy to bring a smile.

Just purchased Eternal Strands. Hearing amazing things about it. Can't wait to tuck in.
Instead of recommending that recently laid off BioWare devs risk everything to start their own studios (lol like it's so easy?)

You could take a bit of that energy and buy games from some that already did ☺️

Eternal Strands just launched this week and I'm pretty sure Stray Gods is on sale!

My Five Rooks. Part Five. Allesandra De Riva. My current #Rook. A qunari warrior Crow. Headcanoning a warrior in an assassin's guild was fun, but the #DAV Reaper speciality complements her natural charm. She quite fancies Taash. So, we'll see what happens with that.

Not to say I'm feeling lonely after two weeks of severe agoraphobic episode, but I rescued a fly from a water-filled tub, and then had a lengthy chat with them as they sat in the sun near the open window drying themselves. (Where I had gently placed them.)

Best–and, only–conversation all day.

Thank you to everyone that made Dragon Age happen. Thank you for the stories, the characters and the inspiration.
I hope you find a place where your work is appreciated.

The fans will keep the franchise alive💜

My Five Rooks: Part Four. River Rayne. She's a short, feisty Grey Warden rogue, specialising in bow combat. She flirts with everyone, but her heart belongs to Davrin (and Assan).

(To the BioWare devs and creatives, thank you for enriching my world.)

Please know that while I am not posting about US politics, my heart breaks for the land of my birth and the country in which I lived for over 40 years. It feels like both betrayal and devastating loss.

My cup of grief doth runneth over.

Between #MassEffect and #DragonAge, I have spent 18 years and thousands of hours in the Milky Way, Andromeda and Thedas exploring, fighting evil, falling in love, and cracking jokes with beloved friends and companions. So, thank you, BioWare devs and creatives. I wish you all the very best. x
Alright friends, tonight's qotd is going to be a little different tonight. Given the recent news, I want to dedicate this one to all the devs who made BioWare great.

So, what moment(s) in ANY BioWare game meant the most to you? Why?

QRP or reply with your answer!

I love that posting here is the same as living my life. And, no, that isn't sarcasm. It's a realisation that I'm ready to embrace for the first time in my life. It's a lesson a long time coming.

Very much this. As a 62-year-old invisible hermit, I greatly approve of this message. Silliness is highly underrated.
PSA:

1. If you are not silly, it is vital you become silly

2. If you are silly, you must stay silly

2. If you used to be silly but have stopped, you must make all efforts to return to silliness
