A new search has commenced in Bragan bog, outside Monaghan town in the search for Columba McVeigh. It’s a barren, bleak place.

It has been a long hard road for the McVeigh family as the 50th anniversary of Columba’s disappearance is approaching at the end of October.

Thinking about our good friend Artie today and all the family circle as we remember his sister Jeanette, his brother in law Joe and their little baby daughter Brigeen who was just 10 months old, who were all killed in a petrol bomb attack on their home on the 27th of August 1976.

On Friday a group from WAVE Belfast headed with Alex to Tracey’s Farmhouse in Strangford Lough for Paddleboard and Pizza. Everyone really enjoyed getting out in the water, basking in the calmness and views of the lough.

Two of our finest in WAVE By the Sea in Killough- Peter and Jim. They worked so hard particularly in the early days to get the centre up and running. The end result is that WAVE Killough is now such an amazing place- tranquil, restful and a haven for all.

Today we said goodbye to one of our dearest friends in the organisation, David Miskimmin. A packed Roselawn, with not enough room for everyone inside, floral tributes in the shape of a motorbike and a guitar,

Today we remember Seamus Ruddy on the 40th anniversary of his disappearance. Seamus was a much loved son, brother & uncle.

For 32 years his body had been secretly buried near Rouen in France. Thankfully, Seamus’s body was recovered eight years ago and brought back to Newry for Christian burial.

The weather is fabulous and there is no better place than the Friday gardening group with Ana in WAVE Belfast. This little oasis is amazing - they are growing so many different types of vegetables and fruit- Artie has built a new closed in frame that acts like a mini greenhouse. It’s brilliant.

What a lovely day to host a large group of social workers, who came all the way from the University of Cologne. They heard from Dr Paul Gallagher about the history of WAVE and the impact it has had on the lives of those who have engaged with our services over the last three decades.

The retirement of Jon Hill is truly the end of an era.
For nearly 20 years Jon has worked tirelessly to find those murdered and secretly buried during the Troubles. His contribution to the success of the ICLVR has been immense. The Families of the Disappeared wish Jon a long & happy retirement.

A moment of reflection yesterday by a loving father and niece for a son and uncle brutally taken on the 25th of April 1998. The tree in Ciaran’s memory has been a sea of white flowers to mark the anniversary. And in autumn it will be red to signify his love of Manchester United.

Aidan always cuts a dash with his use of colour from head to toe! What an inspiring man and it’s wonderful to read about all he has achieved in following his dream to learn more about photography. We are all so proud of you Aidan.

What a good night !

We had a Hoppin Boppin great time. The Easter bunny did a bit of dancing (although his hip just about held out); the Easter bear chased the kids and never tired of getting his picture taken; and, Celtic Soul Brothers had everyone taping along- they were fantastic.

Such a special day at the Palm Sunday Mass for the Disappeared in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh. This always means so much to the families and Sunday’s service was particularly poignant with Archbishop Eamon presiding over Mass, assisted by Fr Joe Gormley.
