I went a bit quiet the past two weeks, I FINALLY took a break to visit family in france 🐁
My planning was: long walk in forests, retro game shopping and visiting the louvre (been 10 years at least) and ofc eat lots of food!

tl;dr I don't mean that small indies are dying, I mean that there are significantly less now of what I'd call visibly individual-made (maybe even amateurish?) games period, and a much greater share of games that are or look AA in production value

I'm not tapped into game development the way you are and I do not have anything to go on but my gut, but I don't think small indies are dying. I feel like there is a breakout hit every year or so and that trend hasn't really slowed. Absolutely ready to eat my words on that though.
