This week, Attorney General Charity Clark sued the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services over the Trump administration’s practice of withholding health, education, and research funding unless states adopt discriminatory policies targeting transgender people.

The U.S. Department of Education announced it would investigate Champlain Valley School District as part of a broader effort targeting school districts that allow students to participate in sports and access restrooms and locker rooms consistent with their gender identity.

We are relieved that American service members were unharmed during this military operation in Venezuela. At the same time, we have grave concerns about Trump’s unilateral decision to escalate U.S. involvement in South America without Congressional authorization.

A second-grade Vermont student and his mother was taken without warning by federal immigration authorities, transported across state lines, and cut off from their support network. That is government overreach and cruelty and an indefensible violation of the rights guaranteed to all of us.
