We actually force (well that’s a strong word but you know) our son to play 90s games bc we think it’s healthy to have a complete “omfg I can’t believe I just spent 3 hours trying to beat this boss without success and now it’s game over”-breakdown every once in a while. It builds character.
Are we seriously normalizing the idea that we can’t tolerate any kind of frustration anymore? Does no one see how massive of a problem this is going to be long term? We’re getting used to 1) having everything 2) having it instantly 3) having it instantly AND effortlessly

Nothing is less Tolkien than wasting fresh water to produce crap. He was literally thinking the industrialisation had gone too far back in the 40s (!), and he was deeply worried about how nobody cared about trees anymore.
