Bingo. I’m tired of people who don’t do their job. I’m know that in an emergency I would put myself between danger and any of the kids I teach, yet the people elected to represent us and uphold the constitution aren’t “brave enough” to do so?

Yes. This. And then the district or state makes the process even more involved by having rules about where you can purchase the supplies from, despite the fact that the state or district isn’t using their funds to pay for the materials!
Every time I read the local news and see a teacher who was awarded a $250 grant for her classroom, I understand that she spent hours of her own time applying for it. Writing it. Going through a submission process.
