Remember her name: Aliya Rahman

Her testimony is everything and it deserves to be heard, by everyone. Decide for yourself.

It’s powerful. It’s gut-wrenching. And no one should have to survive what she did.

Yep. Please don't let this shiny object distract from real reforms.
To anyone tempted to celebrate Noem's big announcement that ICE will use body cams and that it will be expanded nationwide as funding is available...

That's already been official ICE policy for over two years.

DOGE likely perpetrated the most serious, far-reaching data breaches in human history, and we will be dealing with the consequences for years.

Many DOGErs should have been, and still could be, prosecuted for these crimes.

The adultification of Epstein’s victims protects him in death. It protects men like him. It protects the systems that make violence against girls look like consent. These harms don’t always happen on an island. But every time we turn children into adults, we make the island everywhere.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Political violence disproportionately hurts people with less power, not people with more power. Political violence will disproportionately hurt people of color and women and LGBTQ people. It’s not fair, but that’s the way it works. Celebrating political violence means at best indifference to that.
Political violence is bad. It usually begets more political violence.

Celebrating political violence is bad. It usually encourages more political violence, against various targets.

Campus shootings are bad. They make everyone on campus less safe.

It's bad that what I wrote here is controversial.

This is not a genuine search for truth. It is a calculated strategy to erode public confidence in the very institutions responsible for safeguarding health. It represents a form of gaslighting that undermines public trust and overrules sound scientific practice.

A censor.

They agreed to install a state-mandated censor to deliver state-approved propaganda.

Call it what it is.
Beyond the 60 Minutes payoff & Colbert cancelation, an unprecedented capitulation: as part of merger agreement, new parent company agrees to install an official to "monitor bias" at CBS’s news division. CBS news will essentially be state controlled media.

Since April 4, #SCOTUS has issued 15 rulings on 17 emergency applications filed by Trump (three birthright citizenship apps were consolidated).

It has granted relief to Trump ... in all 15 rulings.

It has written majority opinions in only 3.

Today's order is the 7th with no explanation *at all.*
Here we go again: Over an acerbic dissenting opinion by Justice Sotomayor (joined in full by Justices Kagan and Jackson), #SCOTUS, with no explanation, grants a stay in the Department of Education RIFs case—effectively clearing the way for the Trump administration to dismantle much of the agency:

More from Sotomayor's dissent:

"When the Executive publicly announces its intent to
break the law, and then executes on that promise, it is the
Judiciary’s duty to check that lawlessness, not expedite it. ... The majority is either willfully blind to the implications of its ruling or naive."

due process exists to protect the guilty, because without due process, everyone becomes guilty by default and nobody is protected
The correct message on immigration right now is not "ICE is bad because they're targeting people who aren't criminals".

It is "ICE is bad because this should never happen to ANYONE".

Allowing human rights abuses for "criminals" just means it will be used on everyone if existence is criminalized!

There's a lot of talk about medicaid in the big awful bill but hardly anyone talking about how it will turn ICE into the largest law enforcement agency in the country and world's largest jailer. This is the equivalent of the enabling acts and will be the start of an ethnic cleansing campaign.

Reporting shortcoming here is that the “CDC” reported to have chosen from a list which funding was no longer needed is not scientific personnel, subject matter experts, or other civil servants. They are the handful of political appointees and DOGE zealots. Those qualified are boxed out of the room.
