Great idea to colocate justice and child and adolescent mental health services ⬇️
We have been working with CAMHS since 2019 to develop an innovative approach to supporting young people in contact with the justice system with their mental health needs to help them address the challenges they face and reduce the likelihood of them re-offend.

Along with @unioflimerick.bsky.social colleague Megan Ryan, we examined the role of gender and wellbeing re youth violence.

Review of evidence shows "policies that reduce economic desperation reduce property crime … but have [no effect on] violent crime". An important finding given how much money is spent on trying to reduce violence using employment, skills, etc.

Really concerning, if not altogether surprising data. Traditional masculine norms related to higher endorsement of violence, elevated mental health, reduced help seeking etc etc etc. My research captures need for boys and young men to explore these issues
