The Illusion of Safety: Age Checks and Encryption Backdoors Don’t Fix the Real Problem
Age‑verification mandates and encryption backdoors (including client‑side scanning) offer a comforting story but miss the core reality: they don’t address where most child sexual abuse happens or how to prevent it. Meanwhile, they shift power to gove...

The beauty of #OpenSource

While writing a demo for one of my boards to exercise the speaker, I hit a bug in #ESPHome’s RTTTL component. So I went ahead and fixed it: github.com/esphome/esph...

My first direct contribution to ESPHome 🎉
Now my code works and I learned new things along the way.

Forcing sites to collect IDs is a terrible idea. But the Supreme Court's ruling on age verification doesn't have to be a privacy disaster.

Privacy Pass lets us verify age without revealing identity. It's a better path forward. Here is how it works:

Age Verification Doesn't Have to Kill Privacy: A Path Forward

Much of Iran's internet service is down as of 14:00 UTC (5:30pm local).

Between 13:45-14:00 UTC traffic levels for the largest networks in Iran began plummeting.

This decision makes the US weaker, less safe and less prosperous.
The #USAGM networks are crucial providers of uncensored news in some of the world's most closed societies. Authoritarian regimes don't block them for no reason - access to independent information threatens their power.

The effort poured into #VPNs far exceeds what it would take to fix the fundamental #privacy and #security flaws in internet protocols that make VPNs needed. Instead of addressing the root cause, we keep investing in workarounds. It's time to rethink our approach.

How many federal workers would DOGE need to fire to make up for Musk not paying his fair share of taxes?

Answer: 677,000. That's 44% of the entire non-DoD federal workforce.

Again, this power grab is not about the budget. It’s about politics.
