A student-led protest movement in Serbia rallied more than 100,000 people for a peaceful demonstration on Saturday in Belgrade, defying warnings from the country’s embattled authoritarian leader that months of unrest were careening out of control into violence.

I gave an interview for ARTE.tv @artefr.bsky.social on the Serbian protests, which is part of short documentary titled "Are Serbia’s Student Protests a Tipping Point?". I hope this video helps more people in Europe understand the significance of the movement for both Serbia and the region.

@jeremyscahill.com I have been aware for years of your great reporting on the Balkans. Hoping you can report on the student uprising in Serbia against government corruption and for the rule of law, accountability and transparency. The Western media has been very derelict and anemic on the topic.

Mass protests in the streets of #Belgrade today as a general strike is taking place all over #Serbia 🇷🇸.

For weeks now the country has been gripped by anti #Vucic protests, following the deathly canopy collapse in Novi Sad which killed 15 people.
