It really shouldn’t take awesome local campaigners like @escalatenow.bsky.social to provide updates on the lifts for people wanting to cross the river east of Tower Bridge on foot or wheeling bikes.

TfL need to pick up the foot tunnels as strategic river crossings and make the lifts reliable.
The drudgery for local residents continues with both lifts broken despite engineers being on site last week and yesterday. They didn’t even bother to update travel info so it’s left to locals to provide live info including Andrea’s initiative greenwichlifts.co.uk. TfL has the clout to change this.

The Labour candidate in the Shooters Hill by-election made some misleading claims about their planned sale of the equestrian centre on Shooters Hill. Here is a response.

✏️ I’ve written to Transport for London about the Silvertown Tunnel cycle shuttle.

It’s not empty, but the real issue is the lack of safe, direct cycle routes to and from it.

TfL promised better access, but people cycling still face long detours, poor signage and unsafe junctions.

Great to get support today as we handed in our letter to Mayor of London with our objections to Silvertown Tunnel.
It will be repurposed for public transport and active travel one day. The sooner the better.

Worrying report from @wheelsforwellbeing.org.uk about their experience of the inaccessibility of the Silvertown shuttle bus.

The shuttle bus is clearly an after thought and exposes the lack of consideration given to people wanting to get across the river by bike.

Silvertown Tunnel opens on Monday, we are calling for it to be repurposed for public transport & cycling only. The tunnel has HGV lanes encouraging huge juggernauts and bringing danger, noise and harmful particulates past our kids. Please join us on Monday from 10-11 am outside City Hall.

Tax the super-rich? Unthinkable. Cut disability support? Sensible.
A 2% wealth tax could raise £24bn, yet we're cutting disability benefits instead. Who are we protecting?
