Context: this speech is from SIR THOMAS MORE, a history written, as near as scholars can tell, in the early 1600s by 6 or 7 people including Dekker, Heywood, Chettle, Shakespeare, and Munday.

It was never performed, because Jacobean England was a police state and it was banned by the censor.
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Trying to help kiddo set up VR link with Meta Quest and it's buggy as shit. Companies are laying off workers and just letting products rot in full view.

"[...] having known someone only as a child and then hearing they were gunned down [...] The person you see in your mind lying in that street is still a child. I'm sure his mother feels that way, too, or she sees him at every age all at once, including those he did not live to see."
I wrote about my childhood friend Alexi Pretti. Please read it and share it and remember him as a human being. @theverge.com

Microsoft has confirmed it will hand over BitLocker encryption recovery keys to the FBI. You definitely should not be accepting Microsoft’s default of storing BitLocker keys in the cloud when signing into Windows with an MS account www.theverge.com/news/867244/...

Gotcha—let’s dig into that step by step.

1. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵, because I turned you into an amorphous lump of flesh. You’re not just immobile—you’re immortal, and you feel only anguish.

2. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺. That makes total sense—it’s a natural human impulse, and you’ve been through a lot.

We are collectively getting to enjoy the experience of software after companies get rid of those pesky PMs, which is probably why my grocery app just interrupted me after I had finished a search and was about to add something to my cart. It was a modal dialog to tell me I could have used AI earlier.

Every local arts calendar:

- 10 events per page
- Takes 5 seconds to load next page
- Infinite page count because it includes recurring events
- Series events repeated on page (nightly for 14 nights? That's a page and a half right there)
- Pages include noise like rehearsals and donor galas
