I actually have an answer to why it was different. It was different because the Napalm Girl photograph did not actually end the war. A year before the photo was taken, a majority of Americans already believed it had been a mistake to send troops to Vietnam.

I wish that the London Drug Commission had the bottle to make some real changes to cannabis drug policy, rather than tinkering round the edges.

We have even written the blueprint for them....

Festival season has started!

When I'm not working on my PhD, in the summer, I can found working in a field keeping people safe and making sure they have a great time.

A fab time at #Slamdunk this weekend, the Kaiser Chiefs next then a few weeks off until the big one #BeatHerder.

Medications for opioid use disorder (MOUDs) like methadone can cut overdose risk and save lives. We spoke with an expert on overdose deaths about how MOUDs can prevent fatalities, and the barriers to accessing them. Read or watch the full discussion: drugpolicy.org/resource/ove...

Making the most of the blue sky on the Norfolk coast. Skies full of geese , marshes full of Curlews and after three beach walks some very tired dogs!

Highlight of last week was the Take Drugs Seriously event in Sheff organised by @transformdrugs.bsky.social .

If we had #safesupply maybe Martha (pictured) could have spent her weekend recharging her batteries like I have ahead of another full on week of fieldwork.

Just finished my second week of fieldwork and it's been BRILLIANT.

I've enjoyed working with incredible women who use drugs to co-design and start the research. Lots of great conversations fueled by brews, craft sessions, walking, the odd rant, poems, chicken nuggets and hugs.

What a pleasure.

The Addiction Healthcare Goals team wants to hear from people with experience of addictions to #alcohol or other #drugs & their families, friends & supporters

Inhumane
I hate every time the local cops brag on the news about ‘homeless camp sweeps’. They are taking the most important/cherished possessions from people who have the least.
Look at what was taken in “sweeps” of homeless encampments.

We're constantly fed a narrative of unlimited numbers of *potential* immigrants.

The truth is, by a long way, most people stay put.
And if they do move, they move within the borders of their country.
And if they do leave, they go next door.
And if policy allows it, they tend to go back again, too.
Most international migrants don't move very far from their home countries.

This chart shows the shortest distance between the borders of origin and destination countries for all international migrants. The top destination is a neighbouring country.
