I just saw Wicked and, wow, it is political and so suited to our moment. It’s about efforts to unite a people by oppressing a particular group, rewriting history for the powerful, authoritarianism, lies told to the people, compliance, and the courage to step away to challenge the powers that be.

Fascinating and relevant weekend read. A somewhat obscure music subgenre associated with fascists in the US and Europe is being reclaimed by the left, who look back at the same pre-modern traditions with very different interpretations and inspirations.

The UK had a similar slide toward fascism in the 70s. The Clash and others did something about it.
