A terrible response politically. But, also, after everything that’s happened over the last year, all the controversy about muzzling creatives, how tone deaf and stupid is the Bendigo Writers Festival for trying to do this?

I'm sad for all the people who planned and worked on the Bendigo Writers Festival program: today must be an awful day for them, and for the writers & audiences and staff who are going to have to try to clean up the mess & deal with an unnecessary logistical nightmare two days away.

Wow! Bendigo Writers Festival (15 - 17 Aug) is making guest speakers sign a last-minute agreement to not mention Israel's genocide of Palestinians. Writers who care about human rights are cancelling. Any writer/guest still thinking of appearing should seriously reconsider. Stand up! Refuse to comply
