Der übers Knie gebrochene Beschluss zu #Mercosur, vorbei an den Interessen der heimischen Bäuerinnen und Bauern, war ein Fehler. Deshalb ist es gut, dass das EU-Parlament nun die Notbremse zieht und der EuGH das Abkommen noch einmal genau prüfen kann. (KL)

I'd be curious how many Austrians would like to interpret neutrality in such a way that enables our country to join a military alliance like NATO (i.e.: abolish neutrality without saying it)
Ok, this made me chuckle.

Which is a hilarious question & position as joining NATO is the end of neutrality.

Perfect encapsulation of the Austrian understanding of neutrality: longing to live on a remote island where conflicts in other countries don't matter to us. Well, here's the news: we live in the middle of Europe, our economy heavily depends on imports and exports and we can't defend ourselves.

What a great day for Vladimir Putin! I can picture him in the Kremlin, watching the EU & the UK play dumb while Trump trashes Int. Law, their media reporting Maduro's abduction as an 'arrest'. I bet he's thinking: Should I also detain Zelensky and subject him to Russian justice?

Für den Jahreswechsel: Wie können nicht hoffen, dass eine überlegene Macht sich in den Grenzen der Mäßigung halten wird. Daher haben die europäischen Demokratien den Auftrag, so stark zu sein wie jede andere Macht weltweit: in Technologie, Wirtschaftsleistung & auch in seiner Verteidigungsfähigkeit.

Darauf sollte man sich doch hoffentlich einigen können in Europa, zwischen rechts und links.
Apple zahlte letzte Jahr ungefähr $21 Milliarden Steuern, eine effektive Körperschaftssteuerrate von 15,6%. Ich hätte lieber 10 Apples in Europa, die jeder 15,6% Steuern zahlen, als gar keine Apples. Das ist das europäische Problem.
