Wardens and police have issued an urgent plea to dog owners after uncontrolled pets attacked a colony of Little Terns on the Norfolk coast, killing at least four chicks and endangering dozens more:

A colony of rare Little Terns on Norfolk's east coast has suffered after off-lead dogs attacked the birds, killing at least four chicks. The RSPB and Norfolk Police have issued urgent pleas to dog owners, warning of potential prosecution as the breeding season reaches its most critical stage.

Nice to see many strong juveniles, some looking after their younger “siblings” (chicks born from a more recent clutch)
Moorhen ringing season again in Grovesnor Park, Chester with @ursulascuderi.bsky.social. H27 the latest addition. Last years resident pair H23 & H24 have been usurped and there’s a new pair on the pond . H23 & H24 now on the river Dee nearby #birdringing #ukbirding

A few days later >150 Cape Verde, Leach and WF #StormPetrels & Boyd's #shearwaters collisioned and died. Despite #ProjectoVito warned DNA, 3d later lights are on m.facebook.com/story.php?st...

The White-bellied Storm-petrel trip also gave up one of two deployed GLS loggers. 1st ever track. Aust. to Chile (10K km) and down towards the Antarctica coast. Unprecedented?! So hard to access remote colonies with over 80 island-days available (2009-2025) but only 8 landings possible.#Seabirds 🪶
