It's blessedly cool this morning so I have jumped up & opened all the doors & windows and will enjoy it while I can.
I expect by mid-morning we'll have everything closed, blinds down on the sunny side of the house, and cricket on the tv.

We have some non-urgent plumbing & electrical work that needs doing. Today was our preferred company's first day back so I called to ask when it might suit them to fit us in. Tomorrow between 9 & 11am 😍 *and* I was greeted like a long lost friend as soon as the office manager saw my phone number.

It's raining, but the ground is so hot that the raindrops evaporate as soon as they land on the path. It's almost uncanny - I can see drops falling, and hear them hit the tin roof, but the ground looks dry (I assume drops that land on grass & soil are soaking in a bit at least)

This morning we have had 5 cockatoos at various spots in the garden at once, a lorikeet just flew over, and this magpie hopped up the stairs to observe us through the back door. 🪶
